Turkey expects Europe to strengthen its defense capabilities within the framework of the alliance at the NATO Leaders’ Summit to be held in Ankara.
elchi reports, citing the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration, that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this during a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
It was reported that during the conversation, bilateral relations between Turkey and Germany, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.
Emphasizing that the goal is to further develop relations between Turkey and Germany, Erdogan noted the importance of continuing mutual steps to achieve this.
The Turkish leader stated that he expects Europe to strengthen its defense capabilities within the alliance at the NATO Leaders’ Summit in Ankara and to demonstrate a strong political will to maintain transatlantic ties.
Erdogan also highlighted that Turkey continues its efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end with a lasting peace.
It should be noted that the NATO leaders’ summit will be held in Ankara on July 7-8.
