The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has raised the threat level in the region following attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
“Currently, no damage to the environment has been recorded,” the statement says.
UKMTO warned mariners that sea mines are present in the Strait of Hormuz and that increased naval activity is expected in the region as mine-clearing operations are underway.
It should be noted that the agency previously reported that a tanker named “Master of Tanker” was struck by an unknown projectile in the strait.
According to the report, although the ship’s bridge was damaged, the crew members are safe.
