Perspectives of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed

Today, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono.

“Elchi” reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has released information regarding this.

It was stated that during the meeting, a broad exchange of views took place on the current state and development prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU), as well as issues on the regional agenda.

The parties emphasized that the existing political dialogue, high-level mutual visits, and intensive contacts contribute significantly to the development of Azerbaijan-EU relations. In this context, the importance of the visit of the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, to Azerbaijan this year was noted in terms of deepening mutual understanding and advancing the cooperation agenda.

The current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in political, economic, energy, transport-communication, and other fields, as well as the agreements reached, were reviewed.

Elnur Mammadov informed the other party about the latest developments in the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and the peace agenda. The importance of utilizing existing opportunities to finalize the peace process, fulfilling obligations in a timely manner, and strengthening mutual trust was noted.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation within international organizations, including dialogue and consultations on issues of mutual interest between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other current issues on the regional and international agenda.
