A helicopter of the Israel Defense Forces carrying the country’s President Isaac Herzog was forced to make an unscheduled landing.
“Elchi” reports, citing Israeli media, that the incident was caused by the aircraft colliding with a bird.
According to the information, the incident occurred in the evening while Herzog was returning from a ceremony dedicated to the 12th anniversary of Operation Protective Edge. After the malfunction was detected, the crew decided to land the helicopter at one of the Israel Defense Forces bases.
The Israeli President was not injured. He later transferred to another helicopter and continued his planned visit to the family of a fallen soldier.
