Cooperation document signed on preparations for the OIC event to be held in Baku

During the meeting between Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef Aldobeay, preparations for the third high-level meeting of heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies of OIC member states, scheduled to be held in Baku on October 27–28, were discussed, and the tasks ahead for organizing the event at a high level in terms of both organization and content were reviewed.

According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the Prosecutor General’s Office, as a follow-up, a bilateral meeting was held on June 19 between the committee members led by Deputy Prosecutor General and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the event Heydar Mammadov and the delegation led by Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef Aldobeay, and cooperation regarding the organization of the mentioned event was formalized.

During the meeting, information was provided on the institutional reforms implemented in the field of anti-corruption in Azerbaijan, the systematic measures taken in this direction under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the improvement of the legislative framework, the increase in transparency, and the results achieved in strengthening accountability in public administration.

It was emphasized that our country attaches special importance to cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and it was noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan actively participates in initiatives carried out within the framework of the organization. At the same time, it was stated that preparations for the third high-level meeting to be held in Baku are continuing in a planned and systematic manner, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the event is held at a high organizational level.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties reviewed the organizational and logistical aspects of the event, including the composition of participants, transport, security, and protocol support. There was also an exchange of views on organizing the event at a high level, strengthening cooperation among member states, and expanding the exchange of experience in the field of anti-corruption.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef Aldobeay, representing the world’s largest international organization after the United Nations, which unites 57 member states, noted that the preparations for the high-level meeting to be held in Baku are being carried out in an organized and high-level manner. Emphasizing that Azerbaijan has rich experience in hosting international events, he stated that our country demonstrates high professionalism and organizational capabilities in organizing such prestigious events.

Yousef Aldobeay expressed his confidence that the upcoming high-level meeting will be held successfully thanks to Azerbaijan’s organizational potential and experience, and emphasized that the event will make an important contribution to further strengthening cooperation among OIC member states. He also noted that more than 300 foreign guests are expected to attend the event.

At the conclusion of the discussions, Heydar Mammadov and Yousef Aldobeay signed a cooperation document on preparations for the third high-level meeting of heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies of OIC member states, which will be held on October 27–28 of the current year.
