Iran-US Agreement
Iran and the US announced on June 14 that, with the mediation of Pakistan, they had reached a 14-point agreement to cease hostilities and resolve problems between the parties through negotiations. This memorandum of understanding, known as the “Islamabad Memorandum,” was signed digitally and entered into force by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump on June 18.
The agreement includes provisions such as ending the war, including in Lebanon, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the US naval blockade against Iran.
Following the signing of the memorandum of understanding, the parties are expected to begin a 60-day negotiation process in the near future to reach a final agreement on issues such as Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.
