For the second time, Azerbaijan is hosting the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. This step clearly demonstrates the scale of the partnership and the level of close cooperation.
elchi reports that this was stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group held in Baku.
The head of state noted that he remembers very well the year 2010, when our country hosted the event for the first time:
“That annual meeting gave a strong impetus to our partnership with the group, as well as to the reforms Azerbaijan has been implementing to diversify the economy, carry out reforms, and reduce dependence on the energy sector.”
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that since then, much has changed both in Azerbaijan and in the region, but our country’s stable and successful development path has remained unchanged:
“This is an indicator of the policy we are pursuing – a policy based on our national interests, having good relations with all parties in the global international arena, and demonstrating a strong commitment to our successful development. Successful development is based on various factors. Azerbaijan has only 35 years of independence, and excluding the first two years, which were accompanied by war, occupation, humanitarian disaster, civil war, and other difficulties, the remaining period has been characterized by the country’s stable development, which is one of the main prerequisites for the success of every country.”
