Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni plans to propose a candidate for the position of EU negotiator on the Ukraine conflict at the upcoming European Union (EU) summit.
“Elchi” reports, citing foreign media, that Meloni stated this in her remarks following the G7 summit held in France.
According to her, during the meeting of the leaders of the “Group of Seven” countries, they reached an agreement on the Ukraine issue with US President Donald Trump.
“I think it would be very difficult to propose a person from one of the major European countries. This would make reaching an agreement more difficult, so I would turn to the medium-sized countries of the European Union,” Meloni said.
It should be noted that the EU summit is scheduled to be held on June 18-19.
