A 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the island of Sulawesi in central Indonesia yesterday has left 1 person dead and 38 others injured.

elchi reports that the 6.7-magnitude earthquake recorded yesterday in Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, has caused loss of life. In a statement issued by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), it was reported that 1 person died and 38 people were injured in the Sigi region. It was noted that damage was caused to the road connecting the cities of Palu, Sigi, and Poso, as well as 6 places of worship, 2 bridges, 2 office buildings, and 67 houses.

It should be recalled that more than 4,000 people lost their lives in a 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Sulawesi in 2018. In January 2021, at least 100 people died in a 6.2-magnitude earthquake near the city of Mamuju on the island of Sulawesi.
