Decision regarding the student who shot a teacher at “Idrak”

The trial for the criminal case of the student accused of shooting a teacher at “Idrak” Lyceum has been held.

“Elchi” reports, citing Teleqraf, that the personal details of the defendant were verified during the proceedings at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Vugar Guliyev.

The defendant’s lawyer, Rashad Mirmehdizade, filed a motion. He requested that the hearing be held behind closed doors, citing the fact that his client is a minor.

In addition, the lawyer requested that the pre-trial detention measure against his client be replaced with house arrest. He stated that a settlement had been reached with the victim.

The legal representative of the victim also requested that the court proceedings be held behind closed doors.

After deliberation, the decision was announced.

According to the decision, the criminal case has been sent for trial, and the hearing is scheduled for July 1. The pre-trial detention measure against the defendant was upheld. The motion to hold the proceedings behind closed doors was not granted.

It should be recalled that the incident took place on February 6 of this year at “Idrak” Lyceum, located in the Binagadi district of the capital.

According to the information released by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the district prosecutor’s office received information regarding the fact that a teacher was injured by a student firing a firearm at the school. The student suspected of committing the act was detained.

On February 7, by the decision of the Binagadi District Court, a 4-month pre-trial detention measure was chosen against him.

A criminal case was initiated by the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office under Article 29, 120.1 (attempted intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a preliminary investigation was conducted.
