Canadian authorities have denied an entry visa to Ghana national team player Thomas Partey.
“Elchi” reports, citing foreign media, that the decision is linked to rape allegations brought against the player.
According to Canadian law, individuals accused of or convicted of committing a crime may be restricted from entering the country.
Ghana’s national team will face Panama in the first round of the World Cup group stage in Toronto on June 18. It is expected that Thomas Partey will not be able to participate in this match due to his inability to obtain a visa.
It should be recalled that in July 2025, London police brought rape charges against the player. According to investigation materials, the incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022. The player denies all allegations and maintains his innocence.
The 32-year-old midfielder has played for England’s Arsenal during his career and currently plays for the Spanish club Villarreal.
