US Chargé d’Affaires summoned to Indian Foreign Ministry

The US Chargé d’Affaires, Jason Meeks, has been summoned to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in connection with an attack on a merchant vessel that left three Indian sailors missing.

elchi reports that this was announced by the ANI agency.

It is noted that the protest was lodged with the diplomat after New Delhi condemned the attack on the commercial vessel “Settebello,” which had 24 Indian citizens on board, off the coast of Oman.

“India has once again called for de-escalation, ensuring the protection of merchant shipping, and restoring the safety of navigation in international waters,” the Foreign Ministry’s statement said.

Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a fire on a tanker located 20 nautical miles northeast of Oman. At that time, it was reported that one crew member had died and two were missing.
