On June 8, 2026, within the framework of the “From Darkness to Light: Awareness and Support Against Human Trafficking” project by the “Women of the 21st Century” Public Union, an educational event was held at secondary school No. 3 named after R. Aliyev in the Binagadi district.
“Elchi” reports that the event was attended by Emin Asadov, Police Lieutenant Colonel and employee of the Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking; Mahira Amirhuseynova, Chairwoman of the “Women of the 21st Century” Public Union and project leader; Almaz Hasrat, Honored Teacher, PhD in Pedagogy, and Director of secondary school No. 3 named after R. Aliyev; as well as school teachers and students of grades X-XI.
At the beginning of the meeting, Almaz Hasrat delivered a speech, welcoming the guests for meeting with the school’s students.
Following this, project leader Mahira Amirhuseynova spoke. She noted that social work with vulnerable population groups who could potentially become victims of human trafficking, as well as raising their awareness, is of particular importance. To this end, the Public Union she leads regularly organizes educational events in various educational institutions and public platforms.
Furthermore, in her speech, Mahira Amirhuseynova provided extensive information regarding how people, especially schoolchildren, are lured into this path through deceptive promises on social networks and social platforms.
Emin Asadov, Police Lieutenant Colonel and employee of the Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking, spoke extensively about the directions of the fight against human trafficking during his address.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Emin Asadov stated that in the fight against this type of crime, alongside law enforcement agencies, the active participation of all members of society, including institutions operating in the education sector, is of great importance. Emin Asadov noted that the ability of students and staff working in the field of education to recognize signs of human trafficking on social platforms and in real life, identify risks in a timely manner, and inform the relevant authorities plays a crucial role in preventing these crimes. He called on students to be active in awareness-raising events regarding human trafficking and to apply the knowledge they gain in their activities. The Police Lieutenant Colonel also emphasized that consistent measures are being implemented by the state in the field of combating human trafficking in the country, and preventive and educational projects are being expanded. According to him, such projects are of special importance in terms of increasing the awareness of students and those working in the field of education. He provided detailed information about the legal basis for combating human trafficking and the rights and duties of citizens in this area. In his speech, Emin Asadov noted that one of the main conditions for an effective fight against human trafficking is strengthening legal education and increasing public awareness in this direction.
Within the framework of the event, questions of interest to the students were answered, and the importance of increasing public awareness in the fight against human trafficking was emphasized.
