A cleanup campaign dedicated to June 5 – World Environment Day, under the motto “Caring for nature is our mission!”, was held in Dashkasan district, co-organized by “AzerGold” CJSC and the “Regional Development” Public Union (RDPU).
This was reported to “Elchi” by “AzerGold” CJSC.
Within the framework of the event, the participants of the campaign cleaned approximately 2 hectares of territory along the banks of the Goshgarchay River from plastic, polyethylene, metal, glass, paper, cardboard, and other household waste. The collected waste was sorted and sent for recycling.
It should be noted that “AzerGold” CJSC, as a state company operating in the country’s mining industry, not only carries out extraction and production processes in accordance with local and international environmental standards but also regularly implements environmentally oriented projects in the regions. On the company’s initiative, mass tree planting, landscaping, and cleanup campaigns are organized every year.
Let us recall that World Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972. The theme “Climate Change” has been set for 2026 by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). This year’s global campaign, hosted by Azerbaijan, aims to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on the environment and human life, strengthen climate action, and promote sustainable development initiatives. The #NowForClimate call is being promoted within the framework of the campaign.
