Anar Aliyev met with the ILO Director-General

Anar Aliyev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population and head of the Azerbaijani delegation participating in the 114th session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) held in Geneva (Switzerland), has submitted the notification regarding Azerbaijan’s accession to another ILO Convention to the Organization’s Director-General, Gilbert Houngbo.

This was reported to elchi by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

It was noted that Convention No. 187 concerning the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health was approved by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan earlier this year.

During the meeting between Anar Aliyev and Gilbert Houngbo, it was highlighted that Azerbaijan has already joined 60 Conventions of the Organization to date, and the possibilities for ratifying several other conventions are being considered.

Within the framework of the session, during a meeting between Minister Anar Aliyev and the Minister of Labor and Social Security of Turkey, Vedat Işıkhan, it was emphasized that the relations between our countries are at the level of brotherhood and strategic alliance. An exchange of views took place regarding the cooperation agenda between the two ministries, as well as making the cooperation related to the export of labor force sustainable and more intensive.

Meeting with the Minister of Social Security and Labour of Lithuania, Jurate Zailskiene, Minister Anar Aliyev noted that there are broad opportunities for further strengthening ties between our countries in the social sphere. The meeting discussed deepening cooperation in this area and exploring opportunities for attracting labor force from Azerbaijan in accordance with the needs of the Lithuanian labor market.

In meetings with Beate Andrees, Assistant Director-General and Director of the Cabinet of the ILO, and Peter van Rooij, ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, the possibilities of expanding our country’s cooperation with the ILO in new directions were discussed.
