MLSPP: Social payments are being made for children from many categories

In our country, social payments are made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP) for various types of social security related to children from many categories.

This was reported to “Elchi” by the MLSPP.

It was stated that these categories include children with disabilities, children who have lost their breadwinner, children in low-income families (receiving targeted social assistance), children of martyr families, children of those with war-related disabilities, women with more than five children, and children of active military personnel: “Monthly social payments are also made to children with disabilities, those caring for children under three years of age from working parents, guardians of children deprived of parental care, and those who adopt or foster children. One-time allowances are provided to families for newborns, as well as to foster families for the purchase of seasonal clothing for the children they foster. Within the framework of 5 social reform packages implemented in the country over the last 7 years, these social payments have also been increased multiple times.”

It was noted that Azerbaijan, as a social state, has an active state policy aimed at protecting children and surrounding them with attention and care: “President Ilham Aliyev’s special care for the social sphere has enabled the strengthening of measures aimed at the social protection, healthy and prosperous growth, and development of children year by year. Furthermore, important work is being carried out at the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, established on the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and opened on October 22, 2021, for the rehabilitation and development of talents and abilities of children with disabilities and those from other vulnerable groups. Over the past period, more than 1,000 beneficiaries have been involved in training and socio-psychological support measures at the center and its branches in Ismayilli and Barda districts, 443 of whom were children.”

“Within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s ‘Development of Children’s Homes and Boarding Schools’ program, children from vulnerable groups are provided with rehabilitation-oriented social services in social service institutions established in accordance with modern requirements. Children from this category, as well as their parents, also benefit from the services of day-care centers and social service centers. In the Ministry’s Children’s Rehabilitation Centers located in the capital (No. 1 and 2), as well as in Gabala and Shamkir districts, children with disabilities are involved in inpatient, outpatient, community-based, online, and mobile rehabilitation services. In these centers, 14,400 children have been provided with rehabilitation services during the current year.”

“Important work is also being done in the fields of adoption, foster care, and the reintegration of children into families. Since 2019, when the implementation and regulation of state policy in the field of adoption were entrusted to the Ministry, 884 children have been adopted. In recent years, the ‘Foster Family’ model has also been applied in our country, and 78 children have been placed in foster families during this period,” the report noted.
