Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has officially resumed his duties as the chairman of Turkey’s Republican People’s Party (CHP).
elchi reports that the relevant court decision was presented to him today.
“The chairman of the Republican People’s Party is Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and he has officially begun performing his duties,” said Atakan Sönmez, the new press advisor to the party chairman.
It should be recalled that on May 21, the court invalidated and annulled the results of the 38th CHP congress. By the court’s relevant decision, former CHP chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was temporarily reinstated to his position.
Following the annulment of the congress results where Özgür Özel was elected chairman, along with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the members of his team were also reinstated in their positions.
According to the court’s decision, the congress held on November 6, 2023, was conducted in violation of the principles of intra-party democracy, equality, and free will; therefore, the voting was deemed flawed on the grounds of absolute invalidity.
