Israel’s Chargé d’Affaires Daniela Grudsky Ekstein has been summoned to the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by the Foreign Office’s press service.
“The summons is in relation to the UK’s strong condemnation of the behavior of Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who mocked the participants of the ‘Sumud’ flotilla. Such behavior is a violation of the most basic norms of respect and human dignity,” the statement says.
The Foreign Office expressed deep concern over the detention conditions of those individuals and demanded an explanation from the Israeli authorities.
“The flotilla’s attempt to deliver humanitarian aid demonstrates the severity of the situation in the Gaza Strip. Israel must ensure the safe delivery of larger volumes of aid via land routes. We are in contact with the families of several British citizens participating in this mission and stand ready to provide consular support at any time,” the agency added.
