Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Baghdad, Eldar Salimov, visited the Headquarters of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF, the political union of Iraqi Turkmens).
“Elchi” reports that E. Salimov shared this information on his “X” social media account.
The Ambassador met here with the Chairman of the ITF and Governor of Kirkuk Province, Mehmet Saman Agha.
“Together with the members of parliament and provincial leadership, we evaluated the future of multifaceted relations between Azerbaijan and Iraqi Turkmens, as well as joint projects,” E. Salimov stated.
The Ambassador also emphasized that he visited the historic Kirkuk Citadel with the governor:
“This unique symbol of our ancient culture currently needs large-scale restoration and reconstruction work. I hope that this ancient monument will soon regain the splendor it deserves.”
It should be noted that for the first time in about a century, a Turkmen governor has been elected in Kirkuk and confirmed by the president.
