elchi reports that these words were stated by the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, during a meeting with journalists.
The diplomat emphasized that the last four years have been difficult for both the region and the world.
Touching upon the large-scale military intervention launched by Russia against Ukraine, he stated:
“Russia’s illegal intervention in Ukraine has been ongoing for more than 1,531 days. During this period, I sincerely welcome the political and humanitarian support Azerbaijan has provided to Ukraine, as well as the growing ties between the two countries demonstrated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent visit.”
The Ambassador also drew attention to the tensions occurring on Azerbaijan’s southern borders and the restrained policy of official Baku:
“In the last year, we have witnessed war on Azerbaijan’s southern borders twice. Despite consecutive provocations, I highly appreciate Azerbaijan’s efforts to manage relations with Iran and de-escalate tensions.”
