The US Department of the Treasury will not extend the temporary permit granted for the purchase of Russian and Iranian oil.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
He noted that the volume of oil already at sea and transported under the previous permit is almost exhausted, and there is no basis for a new concession.
The Secretary added that a similar step is not expected regarding Iran:
“The US continues its strict line against Iran, and oil exports from this country are effectively blocked.”
It should be noted that the US had granted a temporary permit for operations involving the sale, transport, and unloading of oil and petroleum products of Russian origin.
