Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar held a phone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Russian MFA) Sergey Lavrov.

The statement notes that the parties discussed the dates for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Russia and the situation in the Middle East. The foreign ministers also discussed bilateral relations and cooperation on multilateral platforms in the interest of international security.
“Lavrov highly appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States of America,” the Pakistani MFA statement said.
Ishaq Dar, for his part, reaffirmed Islamabad’s readiness to continue assisting in the promotion of dialogue and diplomacy for the resolution of all issues. He emphasized the importance of regular meetings at the high level. The ministers also discussed the possibilities of rescheduling the Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit to Russia to an earlier and mutually convenient date. Details regarding the duration of the visit were not disclosed. In addition, the head of the Pakistani MFA invited Lavrov to visit his country.
