On FIFA’s official ticket sales platform, the price of each of the four tickets released for the World Cup final is shown as approximately 2.3 million dollars. These astronomical figures demanded for the final match to be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19 have broken all ticket price records in sports history.
“Elchi” reports that although FIFA does not set the prices itself on the ticket exchange and sales platform, it charges a 15% transaction fee from both the buyer and the seller for each sale.
This means that if a ticket is sold for 2.3 million dollars, FIFA will earn 690,000 dollars from a single ticket.
Other ticket prices for the final are also notable on the platform; tickets behind the goal at the lower level are listed at 207,000 dollars, and seats in the upper row are listed at 138,000 dollars. As of Thursday, the cheapest ticket price for the final was recorded at 10,923 dollars.
Market regulation decision sharply increased prices
FIFA, which applied a price cap on ticket sales in previous World Cup tournaments, decided not to implement this rule for the 2026 tournament.
Citing free secondary market conditions in the US and Canada, the federation claimed it resorted to this method because a price cap would drive black market specialists to third-party sites like StubHub.
Transaction fees, which were 5 percent in the 2022 World Cup, were also raised to 15 percent for both parties in this tournament.
