An expanded Collegium meeting was held at the Prosecutor General’s Office

On April 23, an expanded Collegium meeting was held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chaired by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, dedicated to the work done in the current year and current issues ahead.

“Elchi” reports with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office that the meeting discussed the work carried out in the prosecution authorities and the achievements made, as well as the main priorities for improving service activities and further increasing their quality. This included organizational and legal issues necessary for procedural activities in connection with amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes regarding the electronic conduct of criminal proceedings, as well as the collection, storage, and other matters related to electronic evidence.

Subsequently, a number of current issues were discussed in accordance with the agenda of the Collegium meeting.

At the meeting, Deputy Prosecutor General Heydar Mammadov delivered a report on the work done and tasks ahead regarding the organization of the third high-level meeting of heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He emphasized that this prestigious event, scheduled to be held in the Republic of Azerbaijan this year, is an indicator of our country’s active participation in international law enforcement cooperation and its proactive position in the field of anti-corruption. He also noted that significant results would be achieved in terms of expanding the exchange of experience among participating states, strengthening institutional cooperation, and defining directions for joint action within the framework of the meeting.

Furthermore, at the meeting, reports were delivered by Tural Aslanov, Head of the Organization and Control over Execution Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and Nemat Avazov, Head of the Investigation Department, regarding tasks arising from recent legislative amendments on the electronic conduct of criminal proceedings and electronic evidence. Regarding other related matters, reports were presented by Akif Mammadyarov, Head of the Information Technology Department of the Criminalistics and Information Technology Department, and Aydin Verdiyev, Head of the Cybersecurity Department; Sahib Ismayilov, Head of the Department for Organization of Work with Documents and Appeals; and Natig Huseynov, Head of the Human Resources Department, regarding the approval of appointments to positions assigned in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Service in the Prosecution Authorities.”

During the discussions, members of the Collegium and invited persons spoke about the issues on the agenda and voiced their proposals; in the end, relevant decisions were made on the issues on the agenda.

Concluding the meeting, the Prosecutor General expressed his confidence that every employee of the prosecution authorities would mobilize their knowledge and experience to solve the highly responsible tasks facing the prosecution authorities this year, that they would properly handle the tasks set for the organization and implementation of the transition of procedural activities to a new stage, and that they would continue to build their activities at the highest level of requirements in the direction of ensuring the rule of law, protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, and safeguarding state interests, as they have always done.
