On April 18-19, the Azerbaijan Armwrestling Championship among teenagers, youth, adults, and masters was held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and the organization of the Azerbaijan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.
According to the news provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry, members of the MES armwrestling national team, who participated in the championship where nearly 200 athletes from cities, regions, clubs, and sports societies of the country competed, managed to achieve high results.
Thus, Sanan Shukurov, an employee of the State Fire Protection Service and internal service sergeant, managed to win a gold medal by defeating all his opponents in the right-arm category in the 86kg weight class, and a silver medal in the left-arm category. Another member of the team, Major Rashad Hajiyev, an employee of the Sumgayit Regional Center, was awarded a silver medal in the championship after competing with his right arm in the master category in the +105kg weight class.
Furthermore, on April 18, a billiards competition was held among employees of state institutions, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Billiards Federation. In the competition, which involved 19 male employees from 11 state institutions, Rauf Asgarov, a warrant officer from the Special Risky Rescue Service of the MES, won a silver medal after 6 matches, and Lieutenant Javid Mustafazade, an employee of the State Service for Control over Small Vessels and Water Rescue, won a bronze medal after 5 matches.
The winners were presented with medals and diplomas established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
