“33 years ago, on April 18, 1993, during the occupation of Kalbajar, 18 Azerbaijani civilians from the village of Bashlibel were brutally murdered after being discovered hiding in mountain caves for 18 days following the destruction of their village. Another 14 people were taken hostage.”
“Elchi” reports that this was noted in a post on the “X” account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
“This atrocity was part of a policy of systematic violence, ethnic cleansing, and aggression carried out against the Azerbaijani civilian population.
Such grave crimes against humanity must never be forgotten.
We respectfully honor the memory of the victims of the Bashlibel massacre,” it was emphasized.
