US President Donald Trump has stated that Iran has agreed to stop uranium enrichment.
“Elchi” reports that he said this in a telephone interview with the “NewsNation” TV channel.
When asked directly whether Iran had agreed to stop uranium enrichment, Trump replied “Yes.”
When the journalist asked again, the president repeated: “Yes,” and then added: “Are you surprised? Nothing surprises me anymore.”
It should be recalled that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran and carried out airstrikes on a number of cities. On the same day, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strikes. In response, Iran launched missile strikes on Israeli territory and attacked US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the US, and their allies agreed on a two-week ceasefire on the night of April 8, 2026.
On April 11-12, negotiations between Iran and the US were held in Islamabad with the mediation of Pakistan. The hours-long discussions ended without an agreement.
On April 15, Donald Trump announced that the Strait of Hormuz was open for shipping, despite the continued naval blockade of Iranian ports. This step was taken to maintain relations with China.
At the same time, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the country’s Navy is continuing the blockade of Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz.
