WSJ: Pentagon contacts automakers to increase weapons production

It is alleged that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has contacted major automakers to replenish dwindling ammunition stocks.
elchi reports that, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) based on sources familiar with the matter, the Trump administration wants automakers to play a larger role in military production.
In this context, Pentagon officials have met with high-level executives of the automotive industry, including Ford Motor CEO Jim Farley and General Motors (GM) Chair and CEO Mary Barra.
Sources claim that the wars in Ukraine and Iran have depleted US ammunition stocks, and therefore the Pentagon is considering involving automotive companies.
