227 kg of horse meat unfit for consumption discovered

During a joint raid conducted by employees of the Lankaran-Astara regional branch of the Food Safety Agency and the Masalli District Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a total of 227 kg of meat unfit for consumption was discovered.

This was reported to “Elchi” by AQTA.

It was noted that during the inspection, it was determined that the product was horse meat with no accompanying documents and an unknown origin. It was revealed that the horse meat was illegally slaughtered by Bilasuvar village resident Əzizov Məlik Sabir oğlu, and Kərimli Əmrah İslam oğlu planned to transport it to Baku in a “Nissan” brand vehicle with the state registration plate 10 XP 977.

The unfit meat has been placed in storage. Samples were taken and submitted for laboratory testing.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
