Over 8,000 counterfeit alcoholic beverages removed from sale

“Various types of food safety, veterinary, and phytosanitary control products were imported into our country from 107 countries during the year. During inspections in the import process, 787 cases of non-compliance were detected.”

Elchi.az reports that this was stated by Aziz Sharifov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AQTA), at a press conference dedicated to the results of the agency’s 2025 year.

He stated that the circulation of 2,000 tons and 308,000 units of products that did not meet safety and quality indicators was prevented. In addition, the import of products into our country from 19 manufacturing enterprises belonging to 7 different countries was prohibited,” he added.

According to him, 8,197 counterfeit alcoholic beverages of various types were detected and removed from sale last year.
