Pashinyan makes a final decision on CSTO membership

“Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan states that Armenia is no longer interested in joining the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).”

elchi reports that “TASS” disseminated this information.

“I would like to clarify once and for all that our interest in the CSTO has dried up, and we have no interest in the CSTO,” Pashinyan said at a government briefing.

He responded this way to the desire to comment on the words of CSTO Secretary General Talatbek Masadykov. According to Masadikov, the organization may consider applying the 25th article to Armenia, which deprives the right to vote due to budget debt, when approving the agenda on November 11.

Earlier, Pashinyan had stated that Armenia would be very pleased if it were expelled from the CSTO. In September 2024, he declared Yerevan’s participation in the organization frozen.
