A murder committed in a higher education institution 24 years ago has been solved.
elchi reports that this was stated in a joint statement by the Press Services of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, as a result of complex investigative and operational search measures carried out professionally by the prosecutor’s office and internal affairs bodies, including the Nasimi District Prosecutor’s Office and the District Police Department of Baku city, another particularly serious crime committed in previous years has been solved.
Namely, the criminal case initiated in the Nasimi District Prosecutor’s Office regarding the intentional murder of security guard Məhəmmədəli Məhərrəmov with cutting and piercing instruments and the theft of various items from the administrative building of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (now Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry) on October 7, 2002, has been revived, and numerous procedural actions have been carried out.
As a result of the analysis of the evidence obtained from the measures taken, strong suspicions have been established that the mentioned crime was committed by Cahangirov Vüqar Rəhim oğlu, born in 1979, who was expelled from the higher education institution in 1997 and has been convicted several times for various crimes.
Vüqar Cahangirov was detained on November 4 of this year as a suspect in committing the crime, and on November 6, he was charged under articles 120.2.3 (intentional murder of a victim in connection with the performance of their official duties), 120.2.5 (intentional murder for mercenary motives), 120.2.6 (intentional murder to conceal another crime) and other articles of the Criminal Code. Based on the investigator’s petition and the prosecutor’s submission, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen by the decision of the Nasimi District Court.
The solving of crimes committed and left unsolved in previous years, the identification of the perpetrators of those acts, and their bringing to justice in accordance with the law are constantly kept in focus, and the prosecutor’s office, in cooperation with relevant state bodies, continues to take necessary measures in this direction.
