According to a four-day online poll of 1679 U.S. adults, 1279 of whom were registered voters, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, only 31% of Americans rated U.S. President Donald Trump positively.
elchi reports that this is the lowest rating of Trump’s two presidential terms.
Two weeks ago, a similar poll showed the president’s approval rating at 32%. For comparison, in January 2026, 42% of Ipsos respondents approved of the U.S. president’s performance.
66% of respondents are dissatisfied with Trump’s performance. The remaining respondents abstained from expressing an opinion.
When asked which party respondents would vote for if midterm elections were held now, 47% of respondents said they would vote for Democrats, and 35% said they would vote for Republicans.
American media note that the poll results indicate that the upcoming midterm elections for the U.S. Congress could be a disaster for the Republican Party. If Republicans lose their majority in both chambers, it will be more difficult for Trump to implement his agenda.
As previous polls have shown, voters believe that Trump is not paying enough attention to the country’s most pressing problems, including curbing the rising cost of living.
Midterm elections in the U.S. are scheduled for November 3. Americans will elect all members of the House of Representatives (435 seats) and 35 out of 50 senators. Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress.
