BBC radio broadcasts suspended in Afghanistan

Afghan authorities have suspended the radio broadcasts of the British BBC corporation in the country.

elchi reports that the head of the Social Networks Oversight Department of the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban government, Safiullah Raid, informed the TOLO News television channel about this.

He stated that the decision was made due to “mass errors” made by the BBC. However, the ministry representative did not specify what specific errors were involved. According to Afghanistan’s “Ettelaat Roz” newspaper, the corporation’s radio programs intended for Afghanistan continue to be broadcast and can be listened to on short and medium waves.

The BBC confirmed that radio broadcasting has been suspended throughout the country. A representative of the corporation told the Reuters agency that contacts are being made with the Afghan authorities to regulate the situation.
