US President Donald Trump has confirmed the withdrawal of the last American soldiers from Iraq.

“Today I am pleased to announce that the last US forces are leaving Iraq! It has been a very long time and very bad decisions have led us to participate in this quagmire, but soon it will be a part of history. This is a great day for America and, most importantly, we are leaving Iraq under the leadership of the magnificent new Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, whom I have supported and fully approved of from the very beginning. He won an election that was not expected to be won and did so by a very large margin!”, the post stated.
According to Trump, the operation named “Inherent Resolve” in Iraq, which began during the administration of George W. Bush in 2003 and continued during the administrations of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, will be completed under his leadership in 2026. Trump called the complete withdrawal of the military contingent from Iraq a victory for the US and his administration, as well as an indicator of the defeat of the ISIS group, which was destroyed by American soldiers.
“The orderly withdrawal of coalition forces and equipment from Erbil Air Base marks the end of a hellish excursion. I had a choice – to stay or to leave, and I had no doubt that it was time for Americans to return home! Prime Minister Al-Zaidi is an excellent man and I hope he can handle things very well. We came to fight the caliphate. The caliphate is no more. We are going home!”, Trump wrote.
