Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili stated that Tbilisi is interested in the chairmanship and is ready to cooperate with all participating states of the organization. However, the European Union opposes Georgia’s candidacy. The situation regarding the 2027 OSCE chairmanship is at a standstill. Cyprus is the only official candidate, but Turkey is blocking its candidacy. This situation creates an opportunity for Georgia to present itself as an alternative. According to the media, especially the Baltic countries, oppose Georgia’s candidacy.
The next meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council will be held in Lugano on December 3-4.
