President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received FIFA President Gianni Infantino on September 29.
“Elchi” reports that President Ilham Aliyev thanked Gianni Infantino for his support for the work done regarding the development of football at the state level in the world, including Azerbaijan.
The head of state noted that preparations for the world championship and festival among boys under 15 (FIFA U-15), which will be organized in our country for the first time next month, as well as the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in 2027, are being carried out at a high level. Emphasizing the importance of Azerbaijan’s participation in these sports events, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his hope that all this will contribute to the development of football in the region as a whole.
Gianni Infantino expressed his gratitude to the head of state for the reception.
The guest touched upon the importance of the world championship and festival among boys under 15 to be held in our country for the first time, stating that the attention of the world sports community will be focused on this event.
During the meeting, the work done regarding the development of football in Azerbaijan was discussed, and the successes achieved in this field in recent times were highlighted.
It was emphasized that successful cooperation has been established between our country and FIFA, and the prospects for partnership were discussed.
During the conversation, the support provided by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) to FIFA’s activities was noted with satisfaction.
