By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated September 17, 2026, the special quarantine regime in the territory of Azerbaijan has been extended until January 2, 2027.
The decision was made in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 infection in the country and the consequences it may cause.

The Ministry of Health responded to the inquiry of “Elchi” regarding this as follows:
“Taking into account the changes in the epidemiological characteristics of the COVID-19 infection and the clinical course of the disease, as well as the circulation of the infection alongside other seasonal respiratory viruses, the current practice of maintaining separate mass infection statistics for COVID-19 differs from the approach in previous periods.
Currently, SARS-CoV-2 infection is evaluated within the framework of integrated epidemiological control and surveillance along with other respiratory viruses. This approach is fully consistent with international practice. The World Health Organization also monitors SARS-CoV-2 within an integrated epidemiological surveillance system along with other respiratory viruses.” (modern.az)
