Compared to the same period last year, no concerning changes in the epidemiological situation regarding measles infection rates have been observed during the first nine months of the current year.
“Elchi” reports that this information was provided by the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health in response to an inquiry from Milli.Az.
It was noted that, according to epidemiological analyses conducted by the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the current situation regarding measles in the country is stable and under control. A decrease in the number of infection cases has been observed in recent months.
It was pointed out that the intensity of contacts in children’s groups, as well as the presence of individuals who have not been vaccinated against measles or have not completed the full vaccination course, may cause an increase in infection cases during certain periods. However, it is reported that the recorded measles infection cases are mainly observed among individuals who have not been vaccinated or have not completed the full vaccination course:
“Considering the high contagiousness of the disease, it is of great importance to receive vaccinations on time and in full in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar to maintain herd immunity among the population.”
It was stated that immunization against measles in the country is carried out with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar. In addition, until April of the current year, not only planned immunization of children but also extensive immunization measures with the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine were carried out for adult population groups susceptible to measles.
Currently, there is a sufficient supply of vaccines in the country to continue planned immunization:
“Epidemiological surveillance for infectious diseases is continuously carried out by the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the situation is regularly assessed, and operational preventive and anti-epidemic measures are taken when necessary.
The current epidemiological situation does not cause concern among the population. Citizens are only advised to have their vaccinations administered on time and in full in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar.”
