On the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, a coastal cleanup campaign was held at the public beach located in Bilgah settlement.
“Elchi” reports that more than 150 volunteers participated in the campaign organized by IDEA within the framework of World Cleanup Day under the slogan “Keep the shores clean!” in connection with the end of the beach season.
During the campaign, more than 2 tons of waste were collected from the coastal areas. The waste collected by volunteers provided with necessary sanitary equipment was handed over to the Balakhani solid household waste sorting plant of “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC.
The main goal of the campaign is to encourage keeping the seashores clean, increase attention to preventing the pollution of coastal areas with household waste, and involve the public more actively in the protection of marine and coastal ecosystems.
It should be noted that the IDEA Public Union regularly implements various educational and practical ecological initiatives aimed at protecting the bioresources of the Caspian Sea, keeping coastal areas clean, and strengthening ecological responsibility in society.
