Hurricane “Polo” in the Pacific Ocean has strengthened to the fifth category, which is considered the maximum on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

According to the agency, the center of the natural disaster is currently located 355 km south of the city of Zihuatanejo (Guerrero state) and 580 km southeast of Manzanillo (Colima state). The maximum sustained wind speed reaches 72 m/s, with gusts up to 87.5 m/s. The hurricane is moving eastward at a speed of 9 km/h.
The circulation of the hurricane increases the probability of intense rainfall (from 75 to 150 mm) in the states of Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, and very heavy rain in the state of Jalisco. Waves with a height of 3 to 4 meters are forecast along the coast of Michoacán and Guerrero. Authorities are maintaining a tropical storm watch zone in the area from Tecpan de Galeana (Guerrero state) to Manzanillo (Colima state).
