The Baku City State Traffic Police Department has addressed road users in connection with the “2026 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix”.
According to elchi, the statement says that in order to prevent traffic congestion in the capital in connection with the “2026 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix” to be held in Baku, citizens coming to the capital from villages and settlements adjacent to Baku, as well as from other cities and regions of the republic, are requested to prioritize the use of public transport from September 24 to 26. Residents of the capital are requested to use private cars as little as possible during the race, to move to the central part of the city only by public transport, and not to take out vehicles with long service life and faulty vehicles at all.
It was stated that a new transit corridor will be organized from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets in the direction of Bulbul Avenue.
It was noted that traffic restrictions will also be applied in certain areas in connection with the race.
Thus, the initial restriction will come into force from 21:00 on September 19. It will be applied in the part of Pushkin Street from its intersection with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. The restriction will continue until the end of the event.
According to the Traffic Management Plan, the streets through which the Baku City Circuit passes and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on September 20 to 08:00 on September 28.
Entry and exit to the restricted zones will be possible only with a “Residential Entry Permit”. Thus, on September 21 and 22, the entry and exit points listed below will be free for traffic without stopping and parking from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 18:00 to 20:00 in the evening.
On September 23, the mentioned roads will be open for traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 20:00 to 22:00 in the evening.
Entry points:
– From Salyan Highway in the direction of Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft circle;
– From M. Lermontov Street in the direction of UN 50th Anniversary Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;
– From Bulbul Avenue to the right in the direction of Zarifa Aliyeva Street and straight in the direction of Neftchilar Avenue;
– From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets in the direction of Khagani Street;
– From the intersection of U. Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets in the direction of Bulbul Avenue.
Exit points:
– From Neftchilar Avenue in the direction of Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall and Crescent Mall;
– From Istiglaliyyat Street in the direction of Azerbaijan Avenue;
– From Neftchilar Avenue in the direction of Azneft circle, Deniz Mall and Salyan highway.
During the specified period, with the exception of public transport and heavy-duty trucks, the movement of vehicles will be provided through the established transit corridors.
While the transit corridors are open, except for emergencies, parking of vehicles, boarding and alighting of passengers will not be allowed. The speed limit in transit corridors will be 50 km/h.
