Monitoring results show that currently, in 33 districts and cities of Azerbaijan, animal slaughterhouses either do not exist or are not operational.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA).
It was noted that while there were only 6-10 slaughterhouses in the country in 2018, this number has now reached 84.
“The operation of modern animal slaughterhouses that meet standards is an important mechanism not only for organizing the slaughter process in accordance with legislative requirements but also for the effective implementation of animal identification and traceability systems, strengthening veterinary control, and preventing cases of illegal animal slaughter. AQTA invites entrepreneurs to establish and organize the operation of animal slaughterhouses that meet modern requirements, as well as veterinary-sanitary and sanitary-hygienic norms, in districts and cities where such facilities are lacking. The Agency is ready to provide the necessary methodological, organizational, and technical support to entrepreneurs in this direction,” the statement noted.
