Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev stated that the protection of Christian heritage within the country is Azerbaijan’s commitment.
“Elchi” reports that Hikmet Hajiyev said this during the “Euronews” forum panel at the Arab Media Summit held in Dubai.
He noted that although Azerbaijan is part of Islamic civilization, there are mosques, churches, and synagogues belonging to Islam, Christianity, and Judaism in the country:
“We are committed to protecting Christian heritage on the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, regardless of whom it belongs to. Because this is our cultural heritage.”
The Assistant to the President emphasized that Azerbaijan has historically been a place where different religions have coexisted.
