American officials have held a meeting with representatives of Yemen’s rebel “Ansar Allah” (Houthi) movement in Oman.
“Elchi” reports that the “Reuters” agency provided this information citing sources.
According to the information, the meeting took place at the US Embassy in Muscat. The Omani government assisted in organizing it. The Houthis informed the American side that they do not intend to attack US ships and remain committed to the 2025 ceasefire. According to one of the sources, the movement also pledged not to attack Israeli and other commercial vessels, excluding those belonging to Saudi Arabia.
The US State Department did not confirm the fact of the meeting to “Reuters”, stating that ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and preventing the spread of terrorism remain Washington’s primary interests.
