A delegation led by the Chief of the State Security Service (SSS), Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, participated in a meeting of the heads of special services of Central Asian states and Azerbaijan held in Kazakhstan on the topic “Ensuring regional security in the context of modern threats.”

This was reported to elchi by the SSS.

It was stated that Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, speaking at the event, emphasized that the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States clearly reflects the strategic nature of the relations between the countries. He noted that Azerbaijan’s becoming a full-fledged participant in this format is a historic step serving to strengthen peace, stability, and security in the region, and that Azerbaijan’s relations with Central Asian states have risen to a qualitatively new level.

The SSS Chief noted that among the threats to regional security, in addition to international terrorism and religious extremism, the activities of transnational criminal groups, and the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons, modern forms of cybercrime and other threats directed at critical infrastructure are also present. He pointed out that the ability of criminal and terrorist groups to use modern information technologies to influence the operation of transport, communication, and other vital facilities is a matter of particular concern.

Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev expressed his confidence that the atmosphere of brotherhood, mutual respect, and trust that characterizes the relations between the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue close cooperation between the special services in order to further strengthen regional security and stability.
