US President Donald Trump has rejected calls for strengthening government regulations on advanced artificial intelligence models. Calling concerns about artificial intelligence a “hoax,” Trump stated: “The only safety measure is a strong and smart president. And the US has plenty of such presidents.”

Others within the administration, including Vice President JD Vance, have expressed doubts about the motives behind leaders like Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei demanding stricter government oversight.
Even some White House officials are expressing their concerns in private conversations about the indifference Trump is showing toward the dangers of artificial intelligence.
Writing on the Truth Social platform, where he frequently shares images and videos created through artificial intelligence, Trump stated that the only control or “safety measure” for artificial intelligence is a strong and smart president, and the US has exactly such a leader. Noting that the administration has already prevented artificial intelligence companies from doing “bad or potentially bad things,” Trump also accused Amodei of “acting like a perfect angel now.”
Trump has long supported the benefits of artificial intelligence, and many industry leaders have made financial contributions to his priority projects, including his inauguration fund and the banquet hall he had built at the White House.
