Zelensky intends to discuss the issue of a ceasefire with Russia in the maritime and energy sectors with Trump.
elchi reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he hopes to meet with his American counterpart Donald Trump next week to discuss the possibilities of reaching a ceasefire with Russia in the maritime and energy sectors. This was reported by “RBC-Ukraine”.
The head of state noted that the preliminary dates for the meeting with the US president are September 21, 22, or 23.
“We are ready for a ceasefire in both the maritime and energy sectors. I intend to discuss all of this,” Zelensky said.
According to him, Russia refuses to agree to a full ceasefire without reaching agreements; therefore, Kyiv will try to achieve a partial ceasefire that involves stopping strikes on energy infrastructure and grain shipments. He noted that numerous countries “support this direction.”
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that there are currently no discussions with Kyiv regarding a ceasefire in the energy sector. Peskov noted that the Ukrainian authorities are in a difficult situation, which prompts them to propose a ceasefire instead of a real resolution to the conflict. He emphasized that Russian military forces are systematically and consistently striking targets in Ukraine in response to Kyiv’s attacks.
