The failed policies of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its leader, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, have led to a decline in his ratings.
“Elchi” reports that this opinion was expressed by British analyst Alexander Mercouris.
“As for Merz, first of all, it must be said that he is clearly a walking corpse,” the analyst added.
According to him, the German Chancellor’s problems are so serious that his position is weakening not only among the German public but also within the CDU itself. Mercouris expressed the opinion that soon Merz will only formally retain the status of chancellor.
Earlier, the leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU) and Prime Minister of Bavaria, Markus Söder, stated that the CDU’s failure in the Saxony-Anhalt elections would not lead to Merz’s resignation. According to him, the current chancellor is the most suitable person to lead Germany.
