Call to slow down artificial intelligence development shakes markets

Shares of companies operating in the field of artificial intelligence fell sharply on Monday following calls to slow down the development of this technology.
elchi reports that shares of South Korean chipmaker “SK Hynix” lost 6.4%, while “Samsung Electronics” shares fell by 4.1%. Shares of Japan’s “SoftBank,” one of the main investors in “OpenAI,” dropped by more than 10%.
A similar situation was observed in European stock markets. Shares of the German semiconductor design and manufacturing company “Infineon” fell by 7.6%, and those of the Dutch chip giant “ASML” dropped by 5.2%.
Currently, the focus of the markets is on the opening of US stock exchanges. The “Nasdaq” index, where technology companies have a large share, is expected to open with a decline of approximately 1.8%.
